Evening at the Dog Park

I just got back from the dog park, luckily I got back right before it stormed. It was fun though, I met a new friend, his name is Rico. He's a jack russel, chihuaha, and fox terrior mix. Mommy thought he was really cute, but not as cute as me of course. Rico would chase and bark at me and then I'd chase him and bark at him too. If he was tired and didn't want to play or if someone was holding him, I'd bark and whine trying to get him to chase me. I overheard my parents talking and they said something about me not getting to go back to the park or not going to park very often until after my next visit to the vet. I'm not sure why, I think it has something to do with me making Rico uncomfortable. It must have been when I tried to put him in his place..but he's younger and smaller than me and that's what my instincts told me I was supposed to do.

All Grown Up?

I think I'm a grown up now because Mommy let me sleep in her bed last night. She's let me sleep in her bed before, but only for a few hours when Daddy is gone. Last night, though, I stayed in her bed the WHOLE night! I just slept quietly next to Mommy, I didn't even snore that much-it's more comfortable sleeping on top of a down blanket on a king sized bed. I didn't get up and try to play or jump off the bed, nor did I have any accidents either! So I guess this means that I'm growing up. I can't wait till I'm a full-sized pug! Mommy said that when I'm a full-sized pug she'll buy me a swimming vest so I can go swimming. My Uncles have an above ground pool and it looks like a lot fun! I think I've been growing up because Mommy has been feeding me a lot of food. In fact, the vet gave her a new measuring cup for my dog food that measures more accurately than my scoop and we discovered that Mommy has been feeding me nearly a cup more than I should be getting. But somehow, I'm not overweight. I think it's because I have a lot of energy and I run around a lot. On the weight scale I'm a 3.5 out 5, with 1 being severely underweight, 3 being perfect and 5 hugely overweight. I'm only 13 lbs and for a 5 mo. old pug, I think that's pretty good. Well, I have to go now, because I want to watch Martha Stewart with Mommy. It's bring your own bulldog day and some of the bulldogs are doing cool tricks that I want to learn!

Home Sweet Home

Whew! What a boring car ride, I'm glad I slept the whole way home so it made it go faster. Have you ever noticed that late at night radio stations play soft, quieter music as if they are purposely trying to put you to sleep while you're driving? Well, it worked for me. I had a great time this weekend, but I missed my Daddy-who is on a business trip-so I hung around my Mommy a lot. I played a lot with my Uncle's who would play tag and tug-of-war with me! I also got to spend an afternoon at Grandpa and Grandma H's house where I got to spend some alone time with Grandpa H. I also met a lot of new people and I love people so it was a big deal! I met a one year old girl on Saturday. If I stood up on my hind legs I'd be just about as tall her. Since she's a puppy too, I tried playing with her, but she just wanted to give me kisses.

I kept Mommy busy this weekend; I ate a lot of stuff I shouldn't have eaten, like tiny green rubber bands (like the ones for braces), bark, and onions. I learned this weekend that onions are very toxic to dogs. Onions can cause Heinz body anemia, a form of hemolytic anemia that ruptures premature red blood cells. I think a dog has to eat a lot of onions in order to get sick. But, I'm okay, I left a nice present for Mommy this morning that pretty much contained all the bad things that I ate-I'm sort of punishing her for not watching me closely. Besides, I'm a Pug and that is what Pugs do, we see something and we put it in our mouths. Mommy almost left me at Grandpa and Grandma C's house this week, but she decided I needed more training and she really didn't want to leave me since she's going to be leaving me at my other Grandparent's in a few weeks. I think I'm starting to wear her out...

Yawn...I've had a long day, so I should probably go to bed. I'm so tired such that I tried to play with myself in the mirror tonight. I forgot that it was my reflection. All I know is that I was waiting for Mommy in the bathroom and I saw another puppy in the floor length mirror and I got down on my front legs and started barking at it. I then ran into the other room looking for this other dog but there was nothing there. So I ran back to the mirror and saw him again, I was so confused. I was sure there was another dog there so I kept trying to play with him. I kept barking and running around in circles. Mommy kept laughing at me of course. Oh well...Anyway, I'm off to bed!

Good Times All Around

Tomorrow is going to be the best day ever! First I get to go to the veterinarians! Yes, I love going to the vet's. Wanna know why? Well, for one, I get to see a lot of people who tell me how cute, handsome and how soft I am (which is rare for pugs by the way). Second, I get lots and lots of treats and peanut butter! I love peanut butter but I never get it unless I'm at the vet's.

I also get to go to my Grandparent's farm! There I get to play and run around a big yard and with no fence too! I also have four uncles who give me A LOT of attention; I just love them. They'll chase me around the house and the yard or they'll put me on their trampoline. It's a lot of fun! I just have to be careful about my territorial cousin Buddy. Buddy..what a hick sounding name! He he! Anyway, he's pretty rough-on my first day at the farm, I went to go say "hi" to him only to find myself pinned to ground underneath his big paws staring into his barred teeth and scary eyes. He barked and growled at me! I was so scared, when he finally let me back up I cried and ran away (or at least tried too, I was so scared I could't even walk so I was limping and skipping). Mommy finally picked me up and checked me all over to make sure I was okay; she was really scared for me! Buddy is big enough he could have bitten my head off without trying. I guess he was just jealous of my city boy charm.

Other than that, I love going to the farm and I can't wait till tomorrow! The three hour drive won't be so much fun! Mommy is dropping me off at the vet's office and then she is going to her journalism class. Once her class is over she is going to pick me up and then we are going to leave right away! My vet's office is on her school campus so we won't lose too much time. It's going to be like escaping! Ooohhh, I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!

It Really Was An Accident

Let me first start out by saying that I am housebroken. I have gone several weeks without an accident...until today and every time Mommy vacuums. There is something about the vacuum cleaner that makes me excited and nervous all at once. I don't know if it is because it is very scary looking or the fact that it is really, really loud-but it scares me somewhat. When Mommy pulls it out of the closet, I lay myself really close to the ground and then I wag my tail really hard such that my whole body wiggles. If it comes near me I run far away from it. But, like I said, I get nervous and excited around it and I will tinkle-which Mommy never knows about until she steps in it(which doesn't exactly please her). Mommy doesn't know if I should be punished or not because I don't realize that I do it. It just sort of happens. Other than that, housebreaking has been going really well. I have learned that Mommy and Daddy determine when I go out so I don't need to worry and try to take care of my business on my own inside the house.

Cruella De Vill Forgot One

Last night I had way too much energy for an indoor dog, so Daddy and Mommy took me to the dog park. Unfortunately, there were no dogs in the small dog park. There appeared to be a few small dogs in the big dog park, so that's where we went-to the big dog park-you know, where I am the size of PREY! Needless to say, I didn't do a whole lot of playing. It more like a whole lot of hiding. There were Pit Bulls and Golden Retrievers and a few other strange looking dogs who kept trying to play with me. Shortly after we arrived, a dalmation puppy came to play. He was more of my size so I tried playing with him, but he was too shy. His name is Oreo. Mommy thinks that is the perfect name for him as he looked just like an oreo cream pie. His sister on the other hand, was anything but cute. I guess she was overprotective of her brother and had to make sure I was a suitable playmate first. She was a fullgrown Dalmation, and she kept stomping on me. I'd try to run away from her, but then she'd chase me and then other dogs would chase me. I finally got rid of her, but then she saw me in the middle of park all by myself. Mommy saw that she saw me and called me over to her and just as she picked me up, Maggie jumped up and nipped me. I squeeled even though I wasn't hurt, I was just really scared. Finally, a rat terrior (I guess a chihuaha and Jack Russel mix) came to play in the small dog park so we went back there. I really liked Jasmine, she's an older girl. We chased each other some, but for the most part she was pretty indifferent towards me. I tried everything to get her to play with me: I pawed at her, I sniffed her bum, I ran around in circles, I barked at her, all to no avail. She wanted to sniff the ground than play with me. I guess she was to mature to play with a pre-adolescent boy. It is such hard work getting a girl to play with me sometimes; I came home and slept for the rest of the night. At least I didn't have to baby-sit a yorky-poo(story another time).

Uh..oh. Mommy said the "S" word.

Mommy has been getting ready for school to start this Monday. She is taking summer classes so that she can graduate early. She also told me that I may have to go to school too. I don't want to go to school; it looks so boring. Mommy always has big stacks of books and has to study all the time. It just makes me tired just thinking about it.

Mommy's Nightmare

Mommy has been smothering me with love all day today because of a bad dream she had last night. She dreamt she had to take me to the vet's office for an overnight, comprehensive and observatory physical only to receive a phone call saying that I had 12 weeks left to live. Apparently, there were a lot of things wrong with me, including cancer of the ear rings (not as in jewelry, but rings inside my ear). She dreamt she was sitting at a table sobbing with Daddy, her Mommy and Daddy, her new Mommy and Daddy, and two of her brothers. She didn't want to lose me and doesn't know what she would do if she did. While they were sitting at the table talking-rather while Mommy was crying, someone said something that did not make sense to her. She doesn't remember what they said, but it turned out it was a sick joke that everyone was playing with her. Mommy was glad to wake up from that dream. Apparently, Daddy also dreamed about me, however I saved his life from bad guys. What is it with humans and dreams? I'm just glad I dream about chasing squirrels and rabbits.

Stupid Kitty...

My Mommy found this story about a cat who got himself stuck in the garbage disposal. What a I know why Daddy doesn't like cats. Why go fishing in the garbage disposal for leftovers when you've got easy and safer access to the trash can? This story is pretty funny though, his Mommy and Daddy had to take apart the sink and then drag the cat and the sink to the vet's office. What a sight that must have been! I'm glad dogs are supposed to be smart. :)

My First Few Weeks

This is either me or one of my siblings at 4 weeks of age. I hope it's not me, this picture it too embarrassing. If it is me, I'm not too happy about being held, I just want to sleep. Actually, Mommy and Daddy probably woke me up to hold me. My breeder allowed Mommy and Daddy to come see me but there wasn't much to see. I was more interested in sleeping. But, see how small I am? Daddy can pretty much hold me in just one hand.

This second picture is from my first day with my new Mommy and Daddy. I was 6 weeks old when they brought me home and I weighed only 3 lbs. I wasn't much bigger than when I was 4 wks. old. That was a long day for me. I missed my brothers and sisters and my birth Mommy. But, it didn't take me long to adjust to my new home and family. I only cried for a little while the first night when I had to go to bed. But, I love my new Daddy and Mommy. Every day brings a new adventure and they give me so much love and attention.

Laying Around: Just like a puppy should

Today, I've been a quiet, relaxed puppy. Well, other than the the few times I tripped mommy. I got her to dump potatoes all over the counter and drop the serving spoon for the lamb roast on the floor. He he...Shortly after, I almost got her to dump mashed potatoes all over me. Yummy-what a feast that would have been!

Mommy has been recovering from having her wisdom teeth removed. Daddy and I are proud of her because she's healed well. On Friday, I knew something was up when Mommy and Daddy came home and Mommy had to be led to the bedroom. No one even stopped to say "hi" or let me out of my bed. :( But, late that afternoon mommy came downstairs with her pillow, an ice pack and gauze. I thought the gauze was for me so I kept trying to pull it out of her mouth. Mommy just looked so funny! I'm trying to behave for her since she's wasn't feeling well this weekend. I'd just curl up next to Mommy and sleep with her on the couch. I think it makes her feel better. Although, sometimes I'd get too hot sleeping next to Mommy underneath her big down blanket so I'd move to the end of the couch. I also get annoyed when I'm trying to sleep with Mommy or Daddy and they keep moving around (that's why I look annoyed in the picture above). Then I'll just get up and find a quiet spot away from them to sleep or I'll play with my toys.

My Big Debut

Today is my first day of blogging. Mommy and I have wanted to do this for awhile, but we weren't sure if we were going to have the time. I had to convince mommy that I do a lot of cute things that should be documented, plus other people might get a kick out of the things I do (like the squeeky bat noises I made yesterday at the dog park when I got annoyed with a min pin.). My site might take a while to get going; if you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to post them. Oh, and don't forget to sign my guestbook!

So about me:
I'm a 4 month old fawn, purebred AKC pug puppy. I love to chew on my toys and furniture when my mommy and daddy aren't watching. Sometime's I'll shove my tennis ball or rawhide bone under the couch, then I'll pretend I'm trying to get it out, while I am actually digging at the bottom of the couch, but shhh, don't tell mommy...I think I have her fooled! I also enjoy digging at the carpet and tearing up little pieces. One time, I pulled up a little chunk of carpet and showed it to my mommy. Boy, was that a mistake!! Luckily for me, she never found where it came from.

Asides from chewing on things, I love to run and I love attention! Sometimes, I will run circles around the apartment, like I'm running a race or something. I used to be small enough I could run underneath our coffee table, but I can't do that anymore. I can still run underneath the TV stand, but I have to be careful sometimes or I'll hit my head, which doesn't feel good when I'm running really fast. When I'm playing tag with mommy and daddy, I'll go hide under the TV stand. I love playing with my mommy and daddy, but I don't like it when they ignore me. When mommy gets on her laptop, I'll stand there and bark at it. The other day, she was sitting on the couch with her laptop, doing her best to ignore me (I think she learned that from me), so I decided I was going to show her a lesson or two. I jumped onto the couch, over her laptop, and into her lap! It was quite a challenge, but I did it so fast it made her squeal! But you know what she did, she shoved me off and yelled at me. Oh, I forgot to mention that she had a glass of juice in her hand when I jumped into her lap; I almost made her spill it all over herself and the couch! Oh man, I would have been in so much trouble if that had happened. All I wanted was a little attention. It's better for me when I get lots of attention, because then I won't want to go chew on the carpet, or the furniture, or my new favorite toy: the shoe cubby!

Well, I think that is all I will say for now! I've got to get some sleep..did I mention that I also love to sleep?!
